Welcome to Midtown Film Lab serving Grand Rapids, Michigan! My name is Josh and I'm a film photographer and developer and I go by JoshFromGR.
I specialize in C-41 color negative film, black and white negative film, and ECN-2 color negative processes in 35mm and 120 (or similar formats).

Development
I use high-quality chemicals and precise temperature control to ensure your film is developed to the highest standards. I develop C-41 color negative film, black and white negative film, and ECN-2 color negative film.

Scanning
Scans are just $10 per roll for full frame 35mm and 120, and $20 per roll for half-frame rolls or 220 rolls, which take a bit longer to scan.
I use a Sony A6600 to scan your film including the sprocket holes and process the images with Negative Lab Pro.
You will receive a folder of TIFFs of these scans.
Then I carefully go through each frame to remove as much dust and scratches as possible, along with color correcting to ensure your film photos look their absolute best, and cropping in to maximize the photograph's impact. I put these in a folder of JPGs that are ready to share and print.
All scans are done at maximum quality. You can expect the full-sized scan resolution of around 4000x4000. Take a look at these example scans.
Printing
I offer 4x6 or 5x7 print sets. A set will be prints of all photos in an order. Prints are done on a Canon Pixma G6020 and typically will use Canon papers and inks. The prints come with a quarter inch white border to frame your photos.
Turn Around Time
Typical turn around time is 1-3 days depending on order size and current workload. Feel free to reach out if you want to check on current turn around time.

How It Works
- Drop off your rolls of film and text Josh to let him know.
- Josh will check in your film and give you an estimated cost and ask for any additional details.
- You will get a link to Venmo with the total cost and your estimated turn around time. Typically a day or two.
- Once your film is developed, you will get a text with a OneDrive link to download your photos as JPGs and TIFFs. The OneDrive link will remain active for at least 2 weeks. Josh will also let you know when you can pick up your negatives and prints.
- If you selected to have your negatives returned, they will be put into a plastic sleeve and returned rolled. 120 film will be sliced into strips of 3 frames and put in archival binder sleeves.
- You have a month to pick up your negatives and/or prints.
